Two Paths, One Destination

Many of you have wondered what on earth hypnotherapy, and tarot have in common. As you know, I work with both modalities as I believe that they are two doors into the same room.

And that room is you.

The answers you are looking for are not out there somewhere.

They have always been inside you

THE ICEBERG BENEATH THE SURFACE

Think of your mind as an iceberg. The part above the water — the part you live in most of the time — is your conscious mind. It makes lists, worries about tomorrow, debates what to have for dinner. It is logical, verbal, and very, very busy.

But beneath the waterline lives something far larger. Your subconscious mind holds your deepest beliefs, your emotional memories, your patterns, your instincts, and your most authentic knowing. It is not irrational — it is pre-rational. It speaks not in sentences but in feelings, images, sensations, and symbols.

Both hypnotherapy and tarot are, at their heart, ways of having a conversation with that deeper part of you. They simply approach it from different directions.

TAROT — THE LANGUAGE OF SYMBOLS

When you pull a tarot card and look at its image, something happens before you even have time to think. A feeling rises. A memory surfaces. Something tightens, or softens, in your chest. That is not superstition — that is your subconscious responding to symbol, which is its native language.

Tarot works with your conscious awareness. You are fully present, eyes open, engaged. The images on the cards are designed to bypass your analytical mind and speak directly to the part of you that knows things you have not yet put into words. Two people can look at exactly the same card and see completely different things — because what you see in the card is, in the most profound sense, a reflection of what is alive in you right now.

With the Tarot cards, I am not reading your future. I am helping you read yourself.

HYPNOTHERAPY — THE JOURNEY INWARD

Hypnotherapy takes a different path to the same destination. Rather than coaxing the subconscious up into conscious view through symbol, it gently escorts your conscious mind to one side — and goes directly to the source.

In a state of therapeutic hypnosis, your critical, analytical mind relaxes its grip. The inner noise quietens. And in that beautiful, floaty threshold between waking and sleep, the subconscious becomes accessible in a way it simply cannot be in ordinary waking life. Old patterns can be gently examined. Limiting beliefs, (often formed in childhood,) can be updated. New ways of seeing yourself — and your life — can take root.

You are not unconscious. You are not under anyone’s control. You are simply more deeply present than usual. And in that presence, real change becomes possible.

WHERE THEY MEET

Here is what I find endlessly fascinating about working with both: Tarot often shows a person what needs attention — a pattern, a fear, a longing, a truth they have been circling but not quite naming. Hypnotherapy then creates the inner conditions to do something about it.

A card might reveal that someone has been carrying a deep sense of unworthiness. A hypnotherapy session might then go into the subconscious and gently, safely, begin to untangle that belief — and offer the inner-self a new, updated and truer story.

Together, they form a complete conversation. One speaks in images and asks: what is here? The other speaks in stillness and asks: what needs to change?  Do I really want to make that change?

“Tarot shows you the map. Hypnotherapy walks you through the territory.”

THE ONE THING THEY SHARE

Neither modality tells you what to think, feel, or believe.

That is the thing I want you to really understand.

I am not the authority on your inner life — you are.

What I offer is simply a skilled and compassionate way of guiding you to access what you already know.

The insights that emerge in a tarot reading are yours. The realizations that surface in hypnotherapy are yours. I am the facilitator who helps create the conditions for you to hear yourself more clearly.

Your subconscious has been trying to tell you something, perhaps for a very long time. These two beautiful tools simply help you finally — and fully — listen.

If you are curious about experiencing either modality — or both together — I would love to hear from you. As always, I am here to help you find your own way home to yourself.
